Hulu added 56 movies in the first week of October 2026, and 40 of them landed in one drop on October 6. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, The Sixth Sense and Die Hard top the list, Soul and Ghostbusters sit just behind, and the horror shelf picked up Hereditary, Midsommar, Barbarian, The Menu and The Substance in a single afternoon. Hulu also added the first three Die Hards, The Holiday and The Family Man, so somebody over there has already started on Christmas. Seventeen titles leave before the month is out, Late Night with the Devil and The Avengers among them.

Every title below is live on Hulu in the US, and the full shelf updates daily on the Hulu what-to-watch page. For the scary stuff that was already there, the best horror movies on Hulu list has the standing shelf.

The best of the new arrivals

1. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle (2025)

The best-reviewed arrival of the month on Rotten Tomatoes, a 98, and the highest TMDB score too, an 8.8 from 2,249 votes. The first part of the series finale: the Corps is dropped into a fortress of endless shifting rooms, and the strongest fighters on each side pair off for duels while the hunt for Muzan begins. Anime, based on the manga, and the longest film in the top ten at 156 minutes. Hulu's link is the subtitled cut.

2. The Sixth Sense (1999)

Philadelphia. A child psychologist takes on a nine-year-old patient with a secret about the afterlife, and works the case while his own marriage goes quiet. Psychological thriller, and tied with Die Hard for the second-highest IMDb score of the month. Landed on October 7, the last day of the drop, with 13,351 TMDB votes behind it.

3. Die Hard (1988)

132 min · IMDb 8.2 · RT 94 · Metascore 72 · October 6

An off-duty cop at his wife's office Christmas party in a Los Angeles tower, a team of heist men posing as terrorists, a vault, and a SWAT team outside making it worse. One man, one building, the whole night. A 94 on Rotten Tomatoes, and the argument about whether it counts as a Christmas movie starts right in the keywords.

4. Soul (2020)

101 min · IMDb 8.0 · RT 95 · Metascore 83 · October 6

The month's highest Metascore, an 83, for a Pixar film about a middle school teacher in New York who plays jazz on the side, gets the jazz gig of his life and then gets separated from his body on the way home. Most of it happens in the before-life, where souls pick up their personalities, with a cat involved. Two stingers in the credits.

5. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (2021)

105 min · IMDb 7.8 · RT 96 · Metascore 71 · October 6

A prequel to the series: a high schooler haunted by his dead childhood friend, who has become a curse, gets recruited into a school for exorcists. Shounen anime, based on the manga, and Hulu's link is the English dub. A 96 on Rotten Tomatoes, two points behind Demon Slayer, and the two landed a day apart.

6. Edward Scissorhands (1990)

An inventor dies before finishing his creation, and the young man with blades for hands gets taken in by a suburban family. A hairdressing career, love at first sight, a burglary he did not plan, and a town that turns on him. A fairy tale in pastel, with a 92 on Rotten Tomatoes.

Three academics get thrown out of their university and go into business trapping ghosts in New York. A haunted library, a lot of slime, a possession, and the Environmental Protection Agency as the antagonist. Comedy from 1984 with a 95 on Rotten Tomatoes, tied with Soul and one point behind Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Hulu's link is the Spanish-language listing.

8. The Fly (1986)

96 min · IMDb 7.6 · RT 83 · Metascore 81 · October 6

A Toronto scientist, a teleportation pod, a housefly that got in with him, and a slow transformation the film refuses to look away from. Body horror played as tragedy, a remake, and 96 minutes. The second-highest Metascore among the horror arrivals, behind Hereditary.

9. Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995)

128 min · IMDb 7.6 · RT 60 · Metascore 58 · October 6

Third in the series. McClane is back in New York, and a bomber who calls himself Simon runs him and a civilian he gets paired with across the city on riddles while a gold robbery happens underneath. A 60 on Rotten Tomatoes, the lowest critic score in the top ten by some distance, and a 7.6 on IMDb anyway.

10. Ice Age (2002)

Ice Age poster

81 min · IMDb 7.5 · RT 76 · Metascore 61 · October 6

A human baby, three prehistoric animals who do not like each other, and a long walk to hand it back to its father. The squirrel with the acorn is a running gag, not the plot. Animated, the shortest film in the top ten at 81 minutes, and Collision Course landed the same day.
