Halloween is a month out and Hulu has the most current horror shelf of any service. These are the best horror movies streaming on Hulu in the US right now, ranked by rating, and the list gets refreshed as titles rotate in and out through spooky season and after. The shelf skews recent: eight of the top ten came out in 2020 or later, and only one is older than 2012. For the full movie shelf beyond one genre, the Hulu what-to-watch page updates daily.

The 10 best horror movies on Hulu right now

1. Coraline (2009)

Coraline poster

100 min · IMDb 7.8 · RT 91 · Metascore 80

The best-rated horror movie on Hulu by every score in this list, and the only one you can put on for a kid. An 11-year-old finds a small door in her new house that opens on a better version of her family, run by a mother with buttons for eyes. Stop-motion, based on the novel, and tagged horror for children, which is accurate on both words.

2. Alien: Romulus (2024)

Alien: Romulus poster

119 min · IMDb 7.1 · RT 80 · Metascore 64

Young colonists strip a derelict space station for parts and wake up what it was built to contain. A spin-off from the Alien series that plays as a haunted house in space: cryo chambers, sealed corridors, an abandoned station. The only science fiction in the top ten.

3. Nosferatu (2024)

Nosferatu poster

133 min · IMDb 7.1 · RT 85 · Metascore 78

A remake of the silent classic: a young woman in 19th-century Germany is drawn to a plague-carrying count who has wanted her for years. Gothic in the literal sense, and the longest film in this top ten at 133 minutes.

4. The Ugly Stepsister (2025)

109 min · IMDb 7.0 · RT 96 · Metascore 70

Cinderella from the stepsister's side. Elvira has one ball to win the prince and a beautiful stepsister in the way, so she starts cutting, starving and rebuilding her body to compete. Body horror with a satire tag, and the second-highest Rotten Tomatoes score in this top ten. Hulu carries the English dub at this link.

5. Pearl (2022)

Pearl poster

102 min · IMDb 7.0 · RT 93 · Metascore 76

A prequel to X, set on the same Texas farm decades earlier. Pearl nurses an ailing father under a devout mother's eye and wants to be in pictures badly enough to kill for it. A slasher dressed as melodrama, with an alligator. X is further down this page.

6. Late Night with the Devil (2024)

Late Night with the Devil poster

93 min · IMDb 7.0 · RT 97 · Metascore 72

The highest Rotten Tomatoes score in this top ten. A late-night host puts a possession on air for his 1977 Halloween broadcast, and the film plays as the tape of that night: a studio audience, a hypnotist, and 93 minutes on the clock. Take this over Nosferatu for a group: a higher critic score, 40 minutes shorter, and the talk-show format keeps a room watching.

7. Heretic (2024)

Heretic poster

111 min · IMDb 7.0 · RT 89 · Metascore 71

Two Mormon missionaries knock on the door of a polite man who wants to talk about religion, and the house does not let them leave. Mostly three people in rooms arguing about faith, with the horror arriving through the arguments rather than around them.

8. Send Help (2026)

Send Help poster

113 min · IMDb 6.9 · RT 92 · Metascore 75

A plane goes down and the two survivors on the island are a bullied employee and the boss who bullied her. The power flips, then flips again. Filed as comedy and thriller alongside horror, so expect laughs between the survival beats. The newest film in the top ten.

9. Sinister (2012)

Sinister poster

110 min · IMDb 6.8 · RT 64 · Metascore 53

A true-crime writer moves his family into a murder house for the book and finds a box of old home movies in the attic. Each reel is a different family, a different year, the same ending. The oldest live-action film here and the one the critics liked least, with a Metascore of 53. Audiences rate it well above that, and the reels are why.

10. Run (2020)

Run poster

90 min · IMDb 6.7 · RT 88 · Metascore 67

A homeschooled teenager in a wheelchair starts reading the labels on her medication and stops trusting her mother. Munchausen-by-proxy thriller, and the shortest film in the top ten at 90 minutes.
